Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2013

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Environment's 339 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $37,305,005.81 in 2012.

Topping the list for the Environment was Deputy Minister GAIL BEGGS, who brought home $254,510.58 in 2012.

Following GAIL BEGGS was Assistant Deputy Minister, Integrated Environmental Policy Division PAUL EVANS, with annual earnings of $187,130.55. Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations Division KEVIN FRENCH made $187,130.55, Assistant Deputy Minister/Chief Drinking Water Inspector JOHN STAGER made $187,130.55, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Management DEBRA SIKORA round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $184,127.94 for the Environment 2013 Sunshine List.
